Our organization has a
working philosophy and management ethic principles very
clear and defined.
Honesty, because we
believe in what we do, and have made a helping compromise
that link us to the people of Nicaragua. People with
faces and names, who need help from persons like you.
Transparency because
we understand that way our daily work. Transparency
with our accounts, the funds and donations we receive,
which we dedicate almost exclusively to our social programs.
Transparency in our activity, which you can follow daily
through this website or our blog. And transparency when
opening our doors to anyone willing to meet us; and
above all, meet them, the persons getting that help.
Closeness because we
work with people. We have a direct, personal and close
communication with the people we try to help. And that
communication can only be achieved by breaking the frontiers
and getting close to the people. Listening, seeing,
feeling their reality, in a way just closeness and personal
relationship can make. And closeness with our partners,
collaborators and people like you; who approaches us
to know our work, lend a hand or collaborate.

Humanitarian Aid
Humanitarian and Development Help, if it is not managed
and applied the right way, may cause serious dependence
situations and lack of initiative feelings, to the people
who receive that help. That´s why we firmly believe
that it is the Nicaraguan people, with outside help
if necessary; who must, with daily effort, change the
reality of this country, and draw a most prosperous
and fair future.
At Tio Antonio we understand that the humanitarian
help, must be fair, just and efficient, and directed
to those who really need it. And it must implicate the
beneficiaries and their personal development as well.
This help also should have an ethical and educational
component; trying to promote values as effort, responsibility,
work, compromise, solidarity and collective feeling.
In short, we have to fight against the “gift culture”;
encouraging individual and collective initiative, democracy
and social justice.

this country. |

Local Employment
We believe that employment, is one
of the most efficient and fair helping methods that
a poor person can receive. A decent
job, with a decent salary as well, not only helps poor
people and their family economically; but it also helps
to take them responsibility of their own future, the
same time that impulses local economy.
|
That´s the reason at Tio Antonio we always try
to employ local workers, whenever it´s possible.
And leaving he work done by volunteers to temporal tasks
or those requiring especial qualification. Because of
our small size and limited resources, our number of
Nicaraguan employees at the Social Centre in Granada
is still small, but our philosophy in this matter is
clear. |
